Arā anō ētahi whārite e whai taurangi ana. Ka whakamahia he pū (reta) hei tohu i te taurangi, ā, ko te mahi nui he āta kimi i te uara o te taurangi. Hei tauira:

  • a + 6 = 11 E tika ai te whārite, a = 5
  • 3e = 21 E tika ai te whārite, e = 7
  • 4u − 3 = 25 E tika ai te whārite, u = 7
  • i2 = 36 E tika ai te whārite, i = 6, 6 rānei
