Nā te tukituki o ngā pata wai me ngā maramara tio i rō kapua ka whai whana hiko ai.
The sudden appearance of light and energy in the Sky. Lightning arises from a large electrical discharge between clouds, or between a cloud and the Earth. Lightning is produced during a storm. The water droplets and ice particles in a cloud collide and become electrically charged. The positively charged particles gather at the top of the cloud and the negatively charged particles at the base. When the build up of electrical charge is sufficient, a discharge occurs in the form of lightning.
