WHAKAMĀRAMA

Ko te putanga mai o ngā kiriwhakaari, o ngā kaikanikani, o ngā kaitū katoa i te mutunga o tētahi whakaaturanga, kia whakanuia rātou e te hunga mātakitaki. I te ao Māori ko te karanga, ko te waiata, ko te kupu whakanui ka tukuna e te minenga, ko te urupare hoki a ngā kaitū. I te ao whānui, ko te umere, ko te pakipaki a te hunga mātakitaki, ko te tuohu a ngā kaitū.

The re-appearance on stage at the end of a production of the actors, the dancers and all the performers to be recognised by the audience. In the Māori world, karanga, waiata and speeches may be given by the audience often with a response from the performers. In the wider world of performing arts, shouting and applause by the audience is the norm, with a bow from the performers.
