There are four digits to show 24 hour time. The first two digits show the number of hours past midnight. The third and fourth digits show the number of minutes after that hour. For example, 1645 is 16 hours after midnight (4 o’clock in the afternoon) and 45 minutes past that hour. It is the same as 4:45, or quarter to five in the afternoon.
