Ko te neke matua a te waewae i roto i te haka me te waiata ā-ringa. Ka hīkina, ka tukuna anō ki te papa. Ka haere tahi te takahi o te waewae me te manawataki o te haka. He rerekē ngā momo takahi a tēnā iwi, a tēnā kapa.

The main movement of the foot in a haka or action song. The foot is lifted and then returned to the ground. The takahi goes in time with the beat of the haka. Different tribes and different groups have their own style of takahi.
